Acharya Prafulla Ch. Roy Smriti Vidyamandir is situated in north side of Heritage Park, Agartala and east side of Institute of Advance Studies in Education (IASE) in Agartala Municipality area. This is a co-education school, where medium of instruction is Bengali and class X standard onwards students can opt for Science, Arts or Commerce stream. Here students come from down-trodden, under privileged or disadvantaged sections of the Society. The total strength at present is 557. This is a two sections school with a doubled storied building having three blocks. The school is ‘E’ shaped. The class rooms are well ventilated and spacious. The School has a playground measuring more than 1000 sq. ft. The School has its own Kitchen garden. Presently, the school has the affiliation of State Board(TBSE) and runs under the control of Directorate of Secondary Education (Shiksha Bhavan). A Vocational Scheme IT & IT’es has been introduced under Samagra Shiksha with 40 enrolled students of class IX. The school was established in 1965 as Primary School in Shyamali Bazar, near Govt. Quarters in the name of New Kunjaban Township School which was up-graded as Senior Basic in 1975,as High School in 1991 and High to Higher Secondary in 1995.The school had been shifted to present place in 2012 and the name of the school had been changed to Acharya Prafulla Ch. Roy Smriti Vidyamandir in 2012 on the 150th birth centenary of Indian famous Scientist and founder of Bengal Chemical in West Bengal Acharya Prafulla Ch. Roy. Our school is a child centric organization delivering excellence in education .The school is running in two shifts, i.e. classes I to V in Morning shift starting at 6.30 am and closes at 10.30 am and the Noon shift from 10.45 am to 4.15 pm. The State Government has selected this school as one of the 100 schools to be up-graded as school of excellence under ‘Mission 100’ scheme
